Welcome
to the Hauser Lake Watershed Coalition Website!
In January I was elected the new
President of the Coalition and I would like to thank the members
of the Coalition for this vote of confidence. I would also
like to thank John Wallis for the time, energy and efforts
extended in directing the Coalition to the following
accomplishments during his terms as President:
Development of the Hauser
Lake*A*Syst Program;
Development, Construction and
Operation of Idaho's first Eurasian Milfoil Rinse Station;
Regular roadside cleanups and
the annual Fall Rake-A-Lake events;
The first, second, third and fourth
Hauser Lake Poker Runs;
Return of the Spring Fun Run as a
HLWC event; and
Extensive water quality testing and
monitoring.
The information and links provided in
this website are intended to help residents within the Watershed
minimize their impact on the water quality of Hauser Lake and the
surrounding watershed. They can, however, be used to develop
best management practices to protect water quality in most any
residential or commercial setting. Clean water is a natural
resource that benefits everyone.
The Coalition's main goal for the last
several years has been to determine the health of Hauser Lake and to
protect it from further degradation. In addition to continuing
that work, including the above programs and events initiated and
sponsored by the Coalition under John's leadership, my main goal for
the coming year is to identify, develop and find funding for a
project that will improve the water quality of Hauser Lake.
To do that and continue our current
programs and events, we could use a helping hand. So I ask you
to come to a meeting - meet your neighbors; learn about the current
conditions of the lake and the threats from new invasive species;
hear about and give us your ideas on projects we could undertake to
further protect and improve the lake. We are a small but fun
group, so please join us for a meeting or activity. All
helping hands are welcome.
